About the Role

As Financial Controller, you will lead a global finance team and report to the Group Finance Director. You will be responsible for month-end and year-end financial and management reporting for UK and overseas subsidiaries, including global consolidated reporting. This role will evolve with the organization's growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own global reporting, delivering accurate, consolidated, and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual management and statutory reporting.
  • Own period-end accounting and consolidation accounts for management and statutory reporting.
  • Lead the annual group audit, serving as the key contact for auditors and managing a team to ensure timely delivery.
  • Oversee mandatory filing of financial statements and tax returns for global subsidiaries through collaboration with local accountants and BPOs.
  • Lead subsidiaries’ local audits and manage all group compliance matters, navigating complex statutory accounting, tax laws, and transfer pricing with external firms.
  • Oversee internal controls and banking approvals for all financial outgoings.
  • Manage the finance transactions team, with support from the manager of accounts receivable and payable.
  • Collaborate with in-house legal counsel on exceptional matters related to governance, group structure, and risk management.
  • Lead a small, dispersed group of local financial professionals.
  • Critically assess, adapt, and update existing systems, processes, and procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain a strong global financial control framework.

Requirements

  • Hold an active ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent certification, with at least 2-3 years post-qualification experience.
  • Must not be in your first role out of practice.
  • Proven track record of working across both UK GAAP and IFRS and International compliance environments.
  • Experience in running Group statutory audits in the UK and local statutory audits in overseas subsidiaries.
  • Experience in Group consolidation processes with cross-border transactions.
  • Proven technical accounting expertise across UK and international jurisdictions.
  • Regulatory navigation across contrasting tax jurisdictions, filing requirements, and compliance regimes.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
  • Proven track record in small-team environments, balancing strategic leadership with direct execution of daily accounting tasks.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to produce engaging, concise, and timely management information.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to quickly learn new topics.
  • Collaborative team player with a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to identify and implement new initiatives.

  • Professional services background - working within a global advisory, consultancy, or partnership structure (desirable).
  • Experience with ERP systems migration, including rollout or upgrade of global platforms (desirable).
  • Experience in transfer pricing policy development and documenting cross-border cost-sharing agreements (desirable).
  • Emerging market expansion experience in setting up finance operations or new corporate entities (desirable).
  • Must have the Right to Work in the UK; Systemiq usually cannot provide sponsorship.
