About the Role

McGard is seeking a highly talented and motivated Mill Assistant Lead to join our dynamic team and contribute to our ongoing success.

Responsibilities

  • Back up the Mill Department Lead and serve in their position if need be.
  • Assist LDM Lead in keeping the CNC Mill Department operating efficiently and productively.
  • Ensure all mill programs and setup information are available when needed.
  • Proactively prepare set ups for operators.
  • Notify First Shift Lead or Supervisor of repair needs for all mills.
  • Assist in resolving problems, delays, and difficulties.
  • Help maintain an updated list of tooling and set up requirements for mills.
  • Serve as a material handler for the Mill & Coin Departments, moving gondolas, stands, and parts.
  • Assist Lead with PM work and mill indications as needed.
  • Maintain coolants, oils, and fluid needs on all mills.
  • Remove and dump chip hoppers and bins in the department.
  • Assist with setups in the department to reduce setup time and keep machines running.
  • Clean, organize, and maintain department tooling and gaging.
  • Communicate missing or needed tooling with Lead and Tool Room.
  • Facilitate help from Tool Room, Maintenance, Leads, and Supervisors to ensure timely machine repair.
  • Perform daily documented buddy checks on all running mills.
  • Perform First piece sign offs as needed.
  • Assist Lead in training new mill operators on proper start-up and shut-down procedures.
  • Ensure operator adherence to preventive maintenance responsibilities regarding machines, fixtures, tools, gages, mill cutters, and work area.
  • Ensure all parts produced are regularly inspected for quality by operators.
  • Run a mill from time to time when needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Capable of traveling & working throughout the entire facility, within reasonable accommodation.

  • $20.00 - $28.00/ hour DOE (+ 20% shift differential)
