About the Role
The Production Team Leader is responsible for leading large manufacturing teams to safely manufacture, assemble, test, and pack products in line with business demand. This role focuses strongly on people leadership, safety, quality, and performance within a fast-paced, GMP-regulated manufacturing environment, providing hands-on leadership to ensure production schedules and KPIs are met while maintaining compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day production operations to ensure output, quality, safety, and delivery targets are met.
- Drive a strong safety and quality culture, ensuring compliance with GMP, OH&S, Quality Management Systems, and regulatory standards.
- Manage and develop a large operational workforce, setting clear expectations, allocating work, monitoring progress, and providing regular feedback.
- Ensure production schedules and KPIs are achieved to meet customer and business requirements.
- Support production planning, changeovers, equipment set-up, and monitoring of manufacturing processes.
- Oversee assembly, testing, and inspection activities, including quality control checks on incoming and finished goods.
- Analyse operational data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other functional teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the implementation of strategic and operational objectives through effective leadership of people and resources.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Act as a visible leader on the production floor, spending a portion of time hands-on when required to support the team and operations.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proven experience managing large operational teams and meeting production KPIs.
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety standards, and quality systems.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage technology (Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as visual dashboards) to support operational excellence and drive continuous improvement.
- Background in GMP-regulated manufacturing (medical devices highly regarded).
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience within medical device, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated industries.
