This is a hands-on, high-impact role for an experienced HR professional in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to people strategy for Head Office teams across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
  • Review and interpret people data to execute strategy that improves results and team experience.
  • Contribute to selected projects each quarter.
  • Drive an engaged culture in partnership with managers and stakeholders.
  • Lead engagement surveys and support action plan development.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the team experience and provide coaching on HR best practices aligned to GYG culture.
  • Ensure leaders understand the performance management lifecycle and disciplinary processes.
  • Provide 1:1 coaching, authorize formal disciplinary outcomes in collaboration with the Head of People Partnering, and support annual pay and bonus reviews.
  • Manage succession planning frameworks backed by individual development plans.
  • Champion career development for high-potential team members, review recruitment needs, and ensure a consistent, high-quality onboarding experience.
  • Oversee end-to-end case management — from general misconduct to serious matters.
  • Maintain accurate records, identify trends, and proactively educate managers on employment legislation, award compliance, and GYG policies.
  • Support the National WHS Manager with employee compensation claims, with a focus on understanding and complying with return-to-work plans.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional People initiatives across the employee lifecycle — including D&I programs, engagement surveys, and recognition.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years' experience in an HR Business Partner or HR Manager role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced understanding of Australian employment law, award interpretation and disciplinary management.
  • Proven track record managing end-to-end people projects across the employee lifecycle.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • High-level people management and conflict resolution capability.
  • Personable, approachable, and able to build trust at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and present people data clearly.
