About the Role

As Senior Copy Editor for marie claire and ELLE, you will shape premium content across leading fashion and lifestyle brands, ensuring all stories meet the highest editorial standards for accuracy, quality, and brand voice across print and digital platforms. You will oversee copy workflows from creation to publication, streamline processes, support a digital-first environment, and deliver engaging content.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end copy editing workflow across marie claire and ELLE for both print and digital platforms.
  • Copy edit, fact-check, and refine content for accuracy, consistency, legal compliance, and brand style alignment.
  • Coordinate editorial workflows across writers, editors, designers, and production teams to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Copy fit, proofread, and prepare content for publication using editorial production systems.
  • Support digital publishing by uploading, formatting, and optimizing content across CMS platforms.
  • Utilize analytics, SEO principles, and digital publishing tools to improve content performance and workflow efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and constructive feedback to editorial contributors and freelance writers to maintain high editorial standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve editorial processes, systems, and ways of working within a digital-first publishing environment.
  • Support editorial leadership on cross-platform publishing initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in copy editing or sub-editing within a newsroom or publishing environment.
  • Exceptional editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills with a meticulous eye for detail.
  • Strong understanding of editorial style, tone, and storytelling across print and digital platforms.
  • Experience working with editorial production systems such as InCopy, CMS platforms, and digital publishing tools.
  • Experience using SEO principles, analytics, and digital workflow tools to support content performance is highly regarded.
  • A genuine passion for fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and culture content, with an understanding of the marie claire and ELLE brands.
  • Knowledge of the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code.
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across editorial, production, and creative teams.
