About the Role
First Advantage is seeking a Criminal Court Researcher to conduct background checks by researching and collecting criminal background information. This role is essential for supporting clients and ensuring workplace safety through the interpretation of public record information. The position offers an opportunity to work independently, primarily in the mornings, and requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Travel to assigned courthouses to research and review criminal and/or civil public record information from onsite electronic access court systems.
- Perform additional research as required from applicable websites.
- Interpret court records and other relevant information from courts and state agencies.
- Accurately document, edit, and modify results of court record searches from courts, agencies, state repositories, and other databases.
- Communicate directly with courts and state agencies to gather additional information and ensure compliance.
- Provide accurate and detailed results and case information obtained from court repositories via database integration or email.
- Conduct criminal background checks utilizing various electronic public access systems at Criminal Court houses.
- Utilize public access criminal court record information (via phone, fax, web, Wi-Fi) to conduct criminal history searches.
- Verify information for criminal records and forward results via scanning and uploading search results.
- Investigate and provide updates on new and/or improved methods of performing criminal background checks.
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must live within 30 minutes of the courthouse in Suffolk County.
- Must have a valid Driver License (or be willing to obtain one).
- Must be willing to travel to the courthouse(s) daily.
- Must have reliable Wi-Fi access at home.
- Must have a document shredder.
- Ability to read legal documentation.
- Work well under pressure with time-sensitive projects.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines with extreme accuracy and detail-orientation.
- Ability to prioritize and structure daily tasks according to demand.
- Capable of working independently but take direction well.
