About the Role

Harriman is seeking a Senior Architectural Designer for our PK-12 studio to join our multi-disciplinary, full-service practice. We focus on a holistic, ground-up approach to design, working closely with integrated engineering groups to create innovative solutions that address human needs through collaboration, knowledge, and ingenuity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design aspects of major projects including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions.
  • Provide professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large, complex projects.
  • Apply advanced architectural concepts and designs independently.
  • Develop new or improved techniques and procedures for complex or novel assignments.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced architectural staff.
  • Perform work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard techniques.
  • Solve problems independently while coordinating with supervising licensed architects.
  • Manage project delivery phases including conceptual design, programming, schematic design, construction documents, and administration.
  • Coordinate with consultants and manage client interactions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an architectural designer.
  • 2-year professional degree in Architecture or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of building construction details and materials.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English for oral and written communication.
  • Working knowledge of building, accessibility, and life safety codes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • LEED Accredited Professional (AP) status is desired.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and open to new ideas.
  • Ability to accept and learn from constructive criticism.
