About the Role

The Peer Tutor provides academic support to undergraduate students by offering course-specific tutoring in subjects in which they have demonstrated strong academic performance. This position is designed for junior, senior or graduate level students who serve as positive academic role models while gaining professional experience in teaching, communication, and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions for course FSH 100 and/or 105.
  • Assist students with understanding course concepts, assignments, and exam preparation while encouraging independent problem-solving.
  • Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality in all tutoring interactions.
  • Prepare for tutoring sessions by reviewing course materials and coordinating with students as needed.
  • Accurately track tutoring hours and complete required Federal Work-Study documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with the tutoring coordinator or supervising staff regarding student progress, scheduling, and concerns.
  • Participate in required training sessions.
  • Uphold institutional academic integrity policies.

Requirements

  • Must be a junior or senior or graduate student in the assigned program.
  • Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must have passed the class for which they are tutoring with a B or higher.
  • Director review and approval.
