About the Role
This program allows employees to receive online and on-the-floor training as a Nurse Aide. Those who demonstrate good customer service, reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic will be eligible for education assistance to become a Certified Nurse Aide at no cost.
Responsibilities
- Provide residents with comfort and safety, detecting and reporting potential accidents or injuries.
- Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with resident care policy and procedure.
- Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, feeding, dressing, and resident mobility.
- Utilize and log care provided into the Electronic Medical Records system.
- Measure and record vital signs.
- Observe and report resident symptoms, reactions, and changes in condition to nursing staff.
- Maintain care of equipment and supplies.
- Assist ambulatory residents or push them in wheelchairs as required.
- Safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting in excess of 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Answer call lights promptly and address resident needs or escalate to a Charge Nurse or another department.
- Provide tactful and appropriate communication in sensitive and emotional situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Administrator or Nurse Management.
- Prior to beginning the Nurse Aide class, work as a Hospitality Aide for a minimum of two weeks, assisting the care team with supportive, non-clinical duties.
- Duties as a Hospitality Aide may include answering call lights, making beds, assisting with resident rooms, passing water, supporting resident comfort, passing trays, and assisting staff with basic resident needs that do not require certification.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED is highly preferred.
- Experience as a caregiver is preferred.
