About the Role

HOK New York is seeking a Project Manager for its dynamic Healthcare practice. This role is accountable for project financial performance and team communication, managing projects from inception to completion, and directing employees and consultants to ensure work is completed as planned, budgeted, and scheduled, aligning with the design intent.

Responsibilities

  • Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team.
  • Participate on and/or lead multiple project teams as Project Manager.
  • Assist senior management in developing and validating project scope and fee, budget, and scope of services during the marketing and contract development process.
  • Assist in preparing project presentations and may participate and/or lead client presentations.
  • Provide complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and project team.
  • Manage projects using the Deltek Project Management system, completing work plans including team members, budget, consultants, schedule, fees, costs, and change notices.
  • Assist senior management in the preparation and execution of consultant contracts.
  • Assist with negotiating fees and contracts.
  • Ensure budgets include a Quality Management Program throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
  • Take personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
  • Foster a commitment to external and internal client service.
  • Work with Project Architect to avoid or eliminate schedule conflicts due to project changes.
  • Plan, organize, and manage projects, providing ongoing communication through team meetings, minutes, and update memos.
  • Communicate with consultants, contractors, sub-consultants, and other disciplines to ensure effective communication.
  • Monitor construction administration during the construction phase.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and consultants.
  • Maintain client relationships throughout the project, keeping clients apprised of progress.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with key project individuals for clarification, coordination, and negotiation of critical issues.
  • Consult with clients to determine function and spatial requirements, preparing information on design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time.
  • Plan project layouts and integrate engineering elements into a unified design for client review and approval.
  • Participate in developing the annual business plan for the business unit.
  • Identify new business opportunities while developing current client relationships.
  • Listen for and seek out new projects.
  • Participate in selected marketing and business development opportunities.
  • Assist in the development of fee proposals for marketing proposals.
  • Provide leadership including professional development coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Define staff requirements for projects as needed or directed.
  • Make recommendations to senior management for staff promotions/terminations for project teams and the Architecture discipline.
  • May participate in interviews and recruiting of professional staff.

Requirements

  • Application must include both resume and portfolio (or portfolio link).
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required.
  • 15 years’ experience in architectural practice with management experience in all phases of projects through post-occupancy.
  • 5+ years of experience working on healthcare projects.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Overtime may be required.

Skills

  • Deltek Project Management system
  • Licensed Architect with current registration in your region preferred
  • NCARB registration preferred
  • LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred

Salary/Compensations

  • $130,000 to $150,000
  • Other compensation may include a discretionary bonus.
