About the Role
United Ag & Turf NE is seeking a Service Writer to support the Service Department. This role involves managing customer service needs, handling work orders, overseeing pre-delivery and repair processes for new and used equipment, and managing daily shop, field service, and delivery operations.
Responsibilities
- Advise customers on technical problems and schedule service needs.
- Plan assigned jobs, detailing information and instructions on work orders.
- Identify customer and machine information.
- Assist in appraising and quoting repair work, discussing service requirements with the Service Manager.
- Schedule shop assignments, field service work, and truck requirements for equipment pickup and delivery.
- Process warranty claims.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet schedules and deadlines.
- Open and close work orders to meet company goals.
- Supervise shop activities in the Service Manager's absence.
- Proactively seek and participate in company-sponsored training to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Maintain positive and professional working relationships with peers, management, and support resources.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
Requirements
- Ability to use standard desktop applications like Microsoft Office and internet-based functions.
- Positive attitude.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Provide robust customer service to internal and external customers.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- 1 year of experience in Service Department operations (Preferred).
- Experience with John Deere Equipment (Preferred).
