About the Role

HDR Engineering is seeking a Transmission Civil EIT/Coordinator to join our nationally ranked Power Delivery team. This entry-level role involves executing technical designs for high-voltage transmission line projects, contributing to reliable, resilient, and sustainable power systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for high voltage transmission lines under supervision.
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options, perform modeling and/or calculations, and prepare design sketches and concept drawings.
  • Collaborate with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop construction drawings according to national design standards, safety codes, and project specifications.
  • Assist with preparing cost estimates or specifications.
  • Participate in field reviews or construction observation.
  • Design and analyze the structural performance of high voltage transmission structures, including concrete, steel, and wood pole structures, and their foundations.
  • Perform typical designs including structure design, structure spotting, conductor sag and blowout calculations, foundation design, hardware selection and fit-up, and development of bill of materials.
  • Consider environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, public involvement, access roads, and construction requirements in designs.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Skills

  • Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
  • Familiarity and demonstrated experience with civil engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil 3D
  • Specialty civil platforms (e.g., Openflows) as required
