About the Role

The Business Development Manager will provide day-to-day support and strategic business development and marketing guidance to the fast-growing M&A and Private Equity practice in London. This role also supports the Antitrust & Competition and Tax teams, working closely with partners and senior management to develop and execute key initiatives and business plan objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead business development, marketing, and client targeting activities for assigned practices.
  • Work closely with key partners on individual business development goals, identifying and executing strategic priorities.
  • Assist lawyers with new business opportunities and pitch meetings, including strategy, research, proposal writing, and material preparation.
  • Identify and advance visibility efforts for assigned practices, including sponsorships, presentations, digital marketing, and events.
  • Lead and enhance lead generation processes to support firm growth.
  • Collaborate with the research team on market research and competitive intelligence.
  • Manage the directories submission process for relevant practice areas.
  • Develop and oversee maintenance of practice marketing materials.
  • Oversee the league table collection and submission process, providing analysis.
  • Oversee maintenance of practice-related information in proposal and matter databases.
  • Maintain an online reporting system tracking proposals/pitches and evaluate progress.

Requirements

  • Degree educated or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in business development, marketing, and/or practice management, preferably in a law firm or professional services marketing department.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience providing business development support to a corporate practice.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Excellent team and project management, organization, and planning abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and promote teamwork, productivity, and accountability.
  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm, motivation, and a positive attitude.
  • Superb client service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with personnel at all levels.
