About the Role

The Fire Alarm Technician will complete code-compliant testing and inspections, assess risks, and propose solutions for fire prevention in compliance with ULC, NFC, NFPA, and other regulatory requirements. This role involves liaising between building occupants, facility managers, and various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect facilities, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Create action plans and recommendations to resolve fire life safety compliance issues.
  • Inspect Fire Alarm systems and components for compliance and complete required repairs.
  • Analyze the causes of fire alarms and trouble calls, providing solutions to stakeholders.
  • Communicate with building occupants and stakeholders to address or escalate concerns.
  • Provide support to the main client and assist in coordinating evacuation plans.
  • Assist the property management team and stakeholders with fire and life safety support/training.
  • Participate in project requirements meetings and take responsibility for areas of expertise.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Completion of Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA)
  • Driver's license is required.

Skills

  • College diploma in Fire Protection or equivalent
  • Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification
  • Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information clearly
  • Knowledge of fire and life safety practices, codes, regulations, and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to self-start and work individually or in teams
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data
  • Strong communication skills, including written, comprehension, and verbal
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Fire Alarm Technician experience working in a commercial environment is an asset.
