About the Role

As a Manager Data Scientist, you will play a central role in the design, delivery, and scaling of AI projects for clients, reporting to the CTO. You will lead end-to-end client projects, ensure technical excellence through best practices, support solution design, and serve as the technical reference for clients. You will also develop trusted client relationships and interact with C-level and operational teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end client projects from framing use cases to implementing AI solutions.
  • Ensure technical excellence by promoting software engineering and MLOps best practices for scalable solutions.
  • Support solution design by challenging business requirements, validating data availability, and selecting appropriate methodologies.
  • Act as the technical reference for clients, explaining AI approaches and providing recommendations.
  • Develop trusted client relationships by interacting with C-level and operational teams.
  • Manage the country's data science team, including staffing, well-being, mentoring, and career development.
  • Help define the team's career framework and participate in performance reviews.
  • Drive innovation to improve Artefact's data science team.
  • Contribute to testing and implementing advanced AI approaches and emerging techniques.
  • Drive initiatives to build internal accelerators and reusable tools.
  • Maintain an active technology watch to evaluate emerging tools and services.
  • Share knowledge through workshops, training, and documentation.
  • Lead by example with technical rigor and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Anticipate risks and unblock teams to ensure project progress.
  • Balance ambition and feasibility in solution design.
  • Foster collaboration between data scientists, data engineers, and business teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing data-driven solutions.
  • Strong knowledge in applied machine learning and generative AI.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering and MLOps best practices.
  • Experience with industrializing AI workflows in cloud environments.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and deliver impactful projects in a business context.
  • Intellectual curiosity and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Pragmatism and creativity in tackling challenges.
  • Ability to support growth, mentor juniors, and constructively challenge seniors.
  • Ability to earn trust from both peers and business stakeholders.
