About the Role

The Business Analyst will engage customers, analyze and document current-state workflows, identify inefficiencies, and assess where technology can drive measurable improvement. This is a high-impact, customer-facing role combining consulting, process analysis, commercial awareness, and solution design within the insurance ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structured discovery sessions with stakeholders across underwriting, broking, operations, distribution, and compliance teams.
  • Ask probing, intelligent questions to uncover root causes, not just surface symptoms.
  • Understand commercial objectives, regulatory considerations and operational constraints.
  • Map current-state processes across insurer and broker environments.
  • Analyze submission, underwriting, placement, bordereaux, and policy lifecycle workflows.
  • Identify inefficiencies, duplication, data quality issues, and scalability challenges.
  • Distinguish between true system limitations and behavioral or process issues.
  • Quantify operational and commercial impact where possible.
  • Translate analyzed workflows into a recommended target state.
  • Map requirements against platform capability, shaping feasible solutions and flagging bespoke work needs.
  • Articulate the case for change, setting out expected customer value and measurement methods.
  • Produce indicative scoping for commercial conversations and delivery planning.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Consultant, or Process Analyst.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability.
  • Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills (process maps, business requirements, gap analysis).
  • Ability to translate complex insurance workflows into structured requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of the insurance industry across both Insurer and Broking environments.
  • Understanding of insurer operations including underwriting, product governance, distribution, and policy lifecycle.
  • Understanding of broking operations including placement processes, client servicing, market interaction, and delegated authority models.
  • Awareness of regulatory considerations within insurance markets.
  • A working understanding of configurable, specification-driven software, and the practical difference between configuration and custom development.
  • Exposure to no-code, low-code, or structured product specification environments.
  • Direct exposure to the Lloyd's and London markets, and an understanding of how business is placed and traded there.
  • Experience in InsurTech, or in delivering enterprise SaaS into regulated industries.
  • A consulting background in financial services, ideally insurance, with client-facing polish.
  • Background checks may include criminal record check, credit history review, speaking with previous employers, and confirming academic qualifications.
