About the Role

AbbVie is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join their Medical Affairs team. This role involves developing and nurturing relationships with external experts, advancing scientific credibility, and responding to requests by providing key scientific/medical information.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain key scientific knowledge for credible information dissemination to external experts and healthcare professionals.
  • Foster professional working relationships with external experts and healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in and follow up on assigned investigator-initiated studies, clinical studies, and medical projects within the relevant therapeutic area.
  • Provide scientific support and maintain relationships with external experts and academic centers.
  • Deliver credible scientific presentations to healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in the selection of qualified healthcare professionals for collaborative efforts.
  • Ensure a high level of scientific or educational integrity in collaborative efforts.
  • Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences, and summarize key data presented.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree required: PhD, PharmD, or M.D.
  • Relevant business experience with solid knowledge of the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Previous experience as an MSL preferred.
  • Relevant Dermatology background is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience in the presentation and/or interpretation of scientific or clinical research publications.
  • Knowledge of scientific methods applied to clinical research and current legislative/regulatory controls.
  • Keen interest in developing and maintaining expert knowledge for assigned therapeutic area/product and medical research.
  • English language proficiency (oral and written).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Must be comfortable with technology and various tools/systems for daily tasks.
  • Travel required approximately 30% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license and passport.
  • Ability to understand unmet needs of key stakeholders and make impactful decisions.
  • Ability to coordinate scientific/medical engagement efforts across stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop interaction plans aligned with the Scientific Interaction Plan (SIP).
  • In-depth understanding and execution of meaningful strategies and data-based business decisions.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with other in-field team members.
