About the Role
General Legal is an AI-native law firm seeking an emerging companies attorney to manage deals for startup clients from pre-seed through later stages. This execution-focused role involves owning matters from start to finish, direct client interaction, and utilizing AI-native workflows for efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Run venture financings, formations, equity issuances, and related emerging companies matters for companies and investors.
- Serve as a primary client contact, advising on corporate, employment, IP, and governance issues.
- Negotiate directly with opposing counsel, leveraging knowledge of market terms.
- Use and refine AI-native workflows and playbooks for routine deal work.
- Work within and contribute to improving practice standards.
Requirements
- 4+ years of emerging companies/venture capital experience at a reputable firm.
- Experience running deals independently.
- Solid working knowledge of NVCA documents, SAFEs, convertible notes, 409A and 83(b) mechanics, equity plan basics, and corporate governance.
- Clear, direct communication skills.
- Admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing.
