About the Role

A rapidly growing animal health and diagnostics business seeks a senior commercial lawyer to provide broad-based legal support across Australia and New Zealand. This role partners closely with commercial stakeholders to deliver pragmatic advice on day-to-day legal and compliance matters, while reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements. The position also advises on regulatory issues within a highly regulated sector and contributes to improving contracting processes as the business scales.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer, service, supply and distribution, SaaS, and technology-related contracts.
  • Support negotiations for both routine commercial deals and complex, highly negotiated strategic customer arrangements.
  • Partner closely with commercial teams to deliver pragmatic legal guidance, manage risk, and enable business outcomes.
  • Provide legal support for the integration of an acquired technology business, including an increasing volume of SaaS-related contracting.
  • Drive contracting efficiency by developing templates, building playbooks, enhancing knowledge management, and strengthening contracting capability across the commercial team.
  • Advise on life sciences regulatory requirements, support day-to-day legal and compliance matters, and collaborate with stakeholders across the business in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

Requirements

  • Approximately 10+ years’ PQE with strong in-house commercial legal experience.
  • Experience within the life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or a similarly regulated industry is encouraged.
  • Strong generalist legal skillset with experience across a broad range of commercial and corporate matters.
  • Self-starter with a practical, hands-on approach.
