About the Role
Provide legal counsel to Fortune 500 clients by advising on Canadian privacy and data protection laws, reviewing and negotiating privacy provisions in commercial agreements, and supporting privacy compliance initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Advise on Canadian privacy and data protection laws, including compliance with federal and provincial privacy requirements.
- Review, draft, and negotiate privacy-related provisions in commercial agreements, including vendor, technology, services, and data processing agreements.
- Support privacy compliance initiatives, including privacy impact assessments, policy development, data governance programs, and incident response activities.
- Partner with legal, compliance, security, procurement, and business stakeholders to identify and mitigate privacy risks while supporting business objectives.
- Assist with responses to privacy inquiries, regulatory matters, audits, and data breach assessments as needed.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice law in at least one Canadian province.
- 4+ years of experience advising on privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, technology, or related regulatory matters.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian privacy laws, including PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy legislation.
- Experience reviewing and negotiating privacy and data protection terms in commercial agreements.
