About the Role
Provides clinical and clerical support to assure smooth daily department operations in assigned medical practice or practices. Assures that the patient and examination area is properly prepared.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patients, ensuring proper identification.
- Performs clinical intake activities and documents patient information.
- Transcribes and updates patient information, including demographic, medication, social, and medical history.
- Provides clerical and secretarial support, including preparing patient charts and assisting with paperwork.
- Performs EMR Orders Reconciliation process.
- Ensures examination areas are clean and stocked.
- Prepares patients for visits, ensuring necessary materials are available for providers.
- Conducts in-office testing and coordinates external testing and ancillary services.
- Collects, prepares, and processes specimens, logging results and reconciling them in patient records.
- Contacts patients for follow-up, test results, or clinician instructions.
- Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep of medical equipment and supplies.
- Communicates and documents electronic messages effectively.
- Assists in training new staff.
- Demonstrates and maintains practice-based competencies for in-office clinical procedures.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities.
- Maintains and models organizational values.
- Demonstrates regular, dependable, and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required within the scope of practice.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED with 1-year Medical Assistant experience, or new graduate of Medical Assistant program, or Nursing Assistant training program, or EMT certification, or 3 years job related experience in a medical office.
- Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
- Data entry required.
- Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
- BLS Certification is required within 30 days.
- Ability to travel between practices as needed.
- Ability to travel to various Region D locations.
