About the Role
Oversee the engineering management aspect of construction projects, monitoring progress in a timely and cost-effective manner while ensuring adherence to approved manuals, procedures, statement of work, quality, and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage the engineering aspect of construction projects from concept to completion.
- Plan projects based on analysis of relevant materials like drawings, blueprints, and survey reports.
- Review proposals and contracts, including statement of works, specifications, and technical documents.
- Oversee project bid and proposal submittal processes, including writing technical proposals.
- Ensure projects meet German building codes (Bauordnung).
- Handle permits and approvals with local authorities.
- Apply environmental and sustainability regulations.
- Prepare and review project execution schedules and document submittals.
- Follow designs and drawings to accurately render and communicate project details.
- Facilitate communication among construction teams, subcontractors, clients, and engineers.
- Provide directives for required submittal documents, material specifications, and plans.
- Monitor project progress, schedules, and outline of various aspects to ensure standards are met.
- Prepare project technical presentations and meet with interested parties.
- Attend pre-construction meetings, conferences, and conduct site visits.
- Draft and present reports on project-related topics, such as environmental impact statements.
- Estimate material, equipment, and labor costs for projects.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and authorities to ensure project progress.
- Collaborate with surveyors to establish installations and reference points.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain structures upon project completion.
- Direct and oversee staff and subcontractors on construction, operations, and maintenance tasks.
- Prepare a master schedule integrating all active construction project data.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- Review projects to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
- Select tools, materials, and equipment, and track inventory.
- Manage and direct site staff to review work progress daily.
- Collaborate with clients, staff, contractors, and design professionals to resolve issues.
- Ensure quality construction standards and proper techniques are used.
- Maintain knowledge of new trends, developments, and best practices to improve efficiency.
- Submit reports on construction activities to Direct Management.
- Assist in developing and implementing new policies and practices.
- Ensure the implementation of QHSE Management System in line with ISO standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Direct Management.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role within the construction field in Germany.
- Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, safety, and quality standards.
- Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, methods, and tools.
- Proficiency in German and English languages.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including operating systems, Microsoft Office suite, and others.
- Experience using engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM tools).
- Driver's license is mandatory.
