About the Role
Heights Capital Management Asia (HCM), a dynamic investment team within Susquehanna, seeks an Investment Executive for its Tokyo office. This role offers the opportunity to make an impact within a nimble team backed by substantial capital, prioritizing results and autonomy. The Investments Team's core responsibility is to source and execute direct investment opportunities while upholding HCM's reputation.
Responsibilities
- Proactively leverage and expand professional network to support deal sourcing, facilitate introductions, and gather market intelligence.
- Monitor capital market activity regionally, with a focus on Japan.
- Screen for and maintain a pipeline of potential investment candidates.
- Design and deliver marketing and educational materials to senior executives.
- Build trustful relationships with counterparties including company executives, bankers, and advisors.
- Evaluate potential investments by analyzing business and market factors.
- Assist the team on negotiation and execution, reviewing commercial language in deal documentation.
- Guide parties through Third Party Allotment processes, ensuring professional standards in transaction announcements.
- Monitor post-investment developments to support portfolio companies and inform position management.
- Effectively manage resources, prioritizing high-impact activities and delegating appropriately.
Requirements
- Bilingual Japanese and English.
- 5+ years of experience in investment banking, hedge funds, or related roles.
- Bloomberg, Excel, and PowerPoint capabilities.
- Ability to carefully read and interpret financial statements and legal documents.
- Competence in data analysis.
- Proven track record in advising on deal sourcing, negotiation, and execution while building a strong brand.
- Direct experience with private placements, equity/equity-linked securities is useful.
- Experience in, or demonstrated interest in technology, biotech, and/or another high-growth industry is preferred.
- Pragmatic and flexible attitude, able to navigate sensitive dynamics and exhibit confidence and maturity.
- Ability to thrive in a flat-hierarchical, entrepreneurial, hands-on, multi-cultural firm.
- Intellectual curiosity driving innovative problem-solving and continuous learning.
- Ability to communicate complex financial ideas persuasively, clearly, logically, and across languages.
- Comfortable handling disputes to protect HCM.
