About the Role

Partner with Engineering leadership to support the financial operations of Nscale’s global AI compute platform. This role involves driving financial planning, cost governance, and performance analysis within a fast-paced technical environment, building models for expense management, headcount planning, and investment tracking, and providing visibility into key cost drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting across engineering teams and programs.
  • Maintain financial reporting for engineering, including OpEx tracking, headcount, and project-level spend.
  • Develop and update financial forecasts covering hiring plans, resource allocation, and initiative timelines.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support engineering capacity, productivity, and cost trends.
  • Track and report on core KPIs including cost per engineer, engineering productivity, and spend per initiative.
  • Support the development of unit economics across engineering investments, including cost per feature, product, or initiative.
  • Identify cost efficiency opportunities across headcount, infrastructure usage, tooling, and vendor spend.
  • Partner with engineering teams to understand cost drivers, development cycles, and performance trends.
  • Contribute to cost optimization and efficiency initiatives through data-driven analysis.
  • Build financial models and analysis to support engineering initiatives, product development, and technical investments.
  • Support management of engineering budgets by tracking actuals versus plan and highlighting variances.
  • Assist in evaluating trade-offs across resource allocation, prioritization, and build vs. buy decisions.
  • Track performance against investment assumptions and provide visibility into ROI and impact.
  • Support financial evaluation of engineering tools, platforms, and vendor contracts.
  • Partner with engineering and procurement to track vendor spend and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Monitor usage and cost trends across tooling and infrastructure to promote efficient spend.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and infrastructure teams to support financial planning and decision-making.
  • Translate technical and operational data into clear financial insights for stakeholders.
  • Support planning and prioritization of engineering initiatives and resource allocation.
  • Produce regular reporting on engineering financial performance, including spend, headcount, and program costs.
  • Support cost tracking, budget controls, and governance processes.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of financial and operational data across systems and reports.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or infrastructure / cloud finance roles in a high-growth or top-tier technology company.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, including scenario analysis, sensitivity modeling, and long-range planning.
  • Experience owning or materially contributing to forecasting and planning in a complex, usage-based or infrastructure-heavy environment.
  • Strong understanding of cost drivers in cloud, compute, or infrastructure systems, including utilization, capacity, and unit cost dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with engineering or technical teams and influence decision-making.
  • Proven track record of turning large, ambiguous datasets into clear recommendations and actionable insights.
  • High proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets, with experience using SQL and data tools such as Looker or Tableau.
  • Experience in AI, GPU cloud, or distributed infrastructure environments is a plus.
  • High-ownership, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in ambiguity while building structure where it does not yet exist.
  • Credible with technical stakeholders, grounded in first-principles thinking, and biased toward action, accountability, and urgency.
