About the Role
The Instructional Coach will support students in grades 6 to 12 in navigating the curriculum, designing and leading programming in partnership with faculty and families, with an emphasis on students requiring scaffolding, differentiated learning, and individualized learning goals.
Responsibilities
- Codify special education practices for grades 6-12, ensuring cohesion.
- Develop and oversee special education initiatives, including MTSS programming and differentiated supports, using performance data.
- Ensure teachers adhere to the curriculum scope and sequence, supporting differentiation and intellectual preparation.
- Collaborate with school teams to standardize best practices for special education instruction.
- Analyze student data from various assessments to determine instructional action plans for targeted students.
- Create and manage a system for sharing assessment data results and analyses with the teacher and leader community, focusing on special education students.
- Design and implement support for computer-based testing to maximize special education students’ performance.
- Create and implement a communication system with teachers, families, and outside professionals regarding student performance and needs.
- Create a clear and consistent progress monitoring system for student progress on goals.
- Model, live-coach, and observe instructional practices with a lens towards curriculum fidelity.
- Provide training and support to teachers in differentiation and inclusive practices.
- Support the evaluation of the special education program's effectiveness based on data.
- Work with special education teachers to ensure high-quality planning and preparation aligned to the curriculum.
- Ensure compliance with teacher reports for students with IEPs.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement systems, routines, and expectations for accommodations and supports.
- Teach classes as needed to ensure high-quality instruction.
- Provide targeted coaching and professional development for teachers.
- Meet regularly with Principals to identify areas for school improvement and teacher support.
- Provide parent workshops on special populations rights and services.
- Complete all duties as assigned by Principals and other school leaders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 4 years of special education teaching experience with strong student achievement results.
- Deep knowledge of special education best practices, current educational trends, blended learning practices, methods, research, technology, and program planning and implementation.
- Commitment to DEI practices and willingness to evolve curricula to be more culturally responsive and sustaining.
- Experience planning and leading engaging and effective professional development for adults.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience leading others through influence rather than formal managerial relationships.
- Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high-quality work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
