About the Role
Vogo is seeking a hands-on, data-driven Data Scientist to support its next stage of growth. This role will own the Machine Learning models from development to deployment, directly improving customer experience and business performance. The ideal candidate combines strong model development skills with a pragmatic, ownership-driven mindset, and is excited to make a measurable impact. Success requires strong technical skills, business judgment, and the ability to identify the right problems to solve. This role reports directly to the COO.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement machine learning models for sort and search functions, reservation cancellation prediction, and pricing strategies.
- Leverage business acumen and travel shopping behaviors to identify, engineer, and prioritize impactful features for model performance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy machine learning models into production, ensuring reliability, scalability, and quality.
- Design and run controlled experiments to measure and validate the effectiveness of machine learning models.
- Develop clear reports and dashboards to communicate model findings and performance metrics to stakeholders.
- Explore and apply the latest advancements in machine learning, AI, and data science to enhance modeling capabilities and data infrastructure.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer role.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python, including key machine learning libraries.
- Solid understanding of statistical modeling, experimental design, and data mining techniques.
- Demonstrated experience owning the full modeling lifecycle, including ETL, data cleansing, feature engineering, model development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Experience with SQL and working with large datasets in a cloud environment (GCP preferred, other platforms acceptable).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
- Experience developing machine learning models within a GCP environment.
- Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools.
- Experience in the Travel or Financial Services industry.
