You will balance competing demands with technical complexity, guide and mentor data engineers, and work hands-on as a programmer. Your leadership in managing, transforming, and cleansing high volume data will help clients solve business problems across areas like fraud, financial crime, risk, and customer intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Set medium-term strategy for the technical delivery of projects, anticipating challenges, risks, and issues.

  • Write defensive, fault-tolerant, and efficient code for production-level data processing systems.
  • Configure and deploy Quantexa’s software using tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Scala, and Elasticsearch.
  • Articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Collaborate with solution architects and R&D engineers to champion solutions and standards for complex big data challenges.
  • Proactively promote knowledge sharing and ensure best practices are followed.

Requirements

  • Accomplished technical lead with a track record of delivering complex or mission-critical projects.
  • At least eight years of industry experience in a data engineering role or engineering equivalent.
  • At least five years of experience acting in a lead role within a data or software engineering team.
  • Proficiency in Scala, Java, Python, or a data engineering-associated programming language.
  • Expertise building and deploying production-level data processing batch systems maintained by application support teams.
  • Appreciation for high-quality, operationally stable systems and streamlining development, release, and operations.
  • Experience with modern development tooling (e.g., Git, Gradle, Nexus) and technologies supporting automation and DevOps (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Bash scripting).
  • Familiarity with developing within a version-controlled process that regularly uses these tools and technologies.
  • Strong technical communication ability with demonstrable experience of working in rapidly changing client environments.
  • Knowledge of testing libraries of common programming languages (such as ScalaTest or equivalent).
  • Understanding of different test types (unit test, integration test) with specific examples of written tests.
