About the Role
Supporting the Head Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals to students and staff, while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen. Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals in line with school standards
- Prepare, cook, and present food that is appealing, portion-controlled, and suitable for students
- Supervise kitchen operations and staff in the absence of the Head Chef
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations (e.g. HACCP)
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and manage stock rotation to minimise waste
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation across all kitchen areas
- Adapt menus and recipes to meet dietary, allergen, and cultural requirements
- Train and support junior team members while promoting a positive team environment
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Cook, or in a similar high-volume catering environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and compliance (e.g. HACCP)
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining high standards
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Experience adapting meals to meet dietary, allergen, and cultural requirements
- A positive, reliable, and team-focused approach with the ability to support and guide others
