About the Role
NRDC is seeking a Senior Foundations Manager to join our Development team. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of U.S.-based foundations, strategically raising significant grants to meet institutional fundraising goals. The position requires close collaboration with foundation staff, NRDC leadership, and program experts to maximize funding opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with approximately 50 foundation donors and prospects to secure revenue.
- Develop engagement strategies, manage proposal and reporting processes, and provide updates and briefings.
- Identify and cultivate foundation prospects in collaboration with development research staff.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of proposals, concepts, and reports to foundations.
- Coordinate interactions with foundations across the organization, serving as a key partner to leadership and staff.
- Stay current on foundation trends, news, and priorities to inform fundraising plans.
- Maintain up-to-date records and follow organizational and departmental processes.
- Collaborate with all Development stakeholders, including writers, grant managers, researchers, and major gifts teams.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting all deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 4-7 years' experience in raising funds from foundations.
- Demonstrated experience closing six- and seven-figure gifts.
- Ability to travel domestically approximately 10% annually.
