About the Role

Speechify's mission is to ensure reading is never a barrier to learning. Our text-to-speech products are used by over 50 million people globally to convert reading materials into audio, enhancing reading speed, comprehension, and retention. We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to support our growing user base and contribute to innovative projects, driving the future of our Android application.

Responsibilities

• Own major features and collaborate with the design team to deliver high-quality products.
• Shape the future direction of the Android team.
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Participate in cross-functional discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Review pull requests and provide support to teammates.
• Handle critical issues and unexpected challenges.
• Manage feature releases and provide nightly builds for the QA team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Familiarity with Android components.
• Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app.
• Product design intuition and user empathy.
• Drive to push the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
• Understanding of testing importance and methodologies.
• Self-driven to improve the app and codebase beyond specified requirements.
• Rock-solid experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, JUnit tests.
• Excellent communication skills.
• User-oriented problem-solving approach.
• Driven by continuous feedback from leaders.
