About the Role

Nuix is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to play a critical role within the Sydney-based finance function. This position is central to the integrity of Nuix’s financial reporting, technical accounting, and external compliance obligations as an ASX-listed company. The role requires deep expertise in the application of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB/IFRS), complex revenue recognition under AASB 15, and the preparation and review of statutory financial statements for the Nuix Limited group and its subsidiaries. The Senior Financial Accountant is a key interface between Finance, the broader leadership team, and Nuix’s external auditors, supporting year-round audit activities including half-year procedures, the interim hard close, full year-end, and subsidiary audits. The role also works closely with the FP&A team to ensure alignment between statutory reporting outcomes and management reporting, supporting timely and accurate financial decision-making across the group.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of statutory financial statements for Nuix Limited and its subsidiaries in compliance with AASB/IFRS standards and ASX Listing Rules.
  • Own the end-to-end revenue recognition process, applying complex judgements under AASB 15 across Nuix’s diverse contract structures, in close collaboration with senior finance leadership and commercial operations.
  • Prepare and review technical accounting position papers and memoranda supporting judgements across revenue recognition, lease accounting (AASB 16), share-based payments, and impairment assessments.
  • Manage group-level consolidation entries, intercompany eliminations, and subsidiary reporting packages for half-year and full-year reporting cycles.
  • Prepare ASX-compliant financial disclosures including notes to the financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current standards and guidance.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day liaison with external auditors across all phases (half-year, interim hard close, year-end, and subsidiary audits), coordinating timely responses to audit queries and ensuring supporting documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Support the billing operations centralisation initiative, engaging closely with Operational Finance leadership to maintain process integrity and resolve issues in real time.
  • Respond to ad hoc technical accounting queries from across the finance function, providing clear, well-reasoned guidance aligned with applicable standards.
  • Work closely with the FP&A team to ensure statutory reporting outcomes are reconciled to and aligned with management reporting, facilitating accurate financial planning and analysis.
  • Partner with finance leaders across the Sydney function to provide technical input on key business decisions, deal structuring, and new commercial arrangements with reporting implications.
  • Contribute to month-end and quarter-end close processes, including preparation and review of journals, reconciliations, and balance sheet substantiation.
  • Operationally oversee the work of the Revenue Accountant and Revenue Contractor as part of the checks and balances in the group’s revenue recognition processes.
  • Support the CFO and Head of Technical Accounting & Compliance in preparing materials for the Audit & Risk Committee, Board, and external stakeholders as required.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial reporting and close processes, leveraging NetSuite and other systems to reduce manual effort and enhance data integrity.
  • Collaborate with Finance Systems, Tax, and FP&A teams to design and implement process enhancements that support scalable, compliant, and efficient reporting.
  • Build and maintain standardised reporting templates and workpapers that support consistency and efficiency across statutory and management reporting cycles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial accounting and reporting, with demonstrated expertise in technical accounting under AASB/IFRS and ASX reporting requirements.
  • Experience in a global, multi-currency, multi-entity corporate environment is essential; prior experience in an ASX-listed company is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to apply complex accounting judgements and articulate technical positions clearly to senior stakeholders and auditors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with a major ERP system (e.g. NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle) is mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across Finance leadership, FP&A, Tax, and external auditors.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-paced, listed company environment.

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of AASB/IFRS standards, particularly AASB 15 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers), AASB 16 (Leases), and ASX Listing Rule disclosure requirements.
