About the Role
Join ispace as a Propulsion Design Engineer and help shape the future of lunar exploration. We’re looking for a passionate engineer with broad experience in the mechanical design of spacecraft propulsion systems—someone excited about tackling complex technical challenges and contributing to missions that push the boundaries of what's possible in space. If you're eager to grow with a dynamic and ambitious team, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other sub-system teams to support the lander propulsion design for current and future missions.
- Support the propulsion team with technical expertise, validating analysis and models, and providing feedback.
- Propose practical applications for spacecraft system development, including trade-off studies and material selection.
- Identify and lead the resolution of technical conflicts across sub-systems.
- Support the creation and maintenance of spacecraft propulsion system documentation.
- Support FMECA, launcher requirements, and range safety related to the propulsion system.
- Close action items to support design reviews.
- Support manufacturing, procurement, assembly, integration, testing, and launch operations, potentially involving travel.
- Evaluate component-level and EPM tests for the propulsion subsystem and coordinate with suppliers.
- Prepare operational plans and inputs for other sub-system teams.
- Report status and issues to team lead and group manager.
- Contribute to building a strong team through effective communication.
- Maintain proactive coordination between teams to achieve project goals.
- Perform 3D CAD-based layout design for propulsion system component and piping integration.
- Design for integration of multiple components within constrained spaces, considering flow, manufacturability, assembly, and testing.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in 3D CAD-based layout design, including integration of multiple components within constrained spaces.
- Experience designing with manufacturability, assembly, and testing considerations.
- Experience in fluid system design.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Adaptable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and eager to learn new technical domains.
- Proactive attitude, strong sense of ownership, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Working-level English proficiency.
