About the Role

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising daily activities of the maintenance department to ensure efficient operations in a food processing facility. This role ensures all tasks are performed safely, efficiently, and accurately to maintain and improve plant performance in Safety, Quality, and Reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and advise department associates of work to be completed daily.
  • Oversee daily set up of machinery and equipment prior to production for efficient and effective operation.
  • Monitor packaging line efficiency.
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods (SQF) that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Assist with developing and auditing Preventative Maintenance (PM) program.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Communicate with outside agencies including contractors, equipment suppliers, technical consultants, and vendors.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the plant to seek out potential problems and solicit operator feedback.
  • Assure compliance with government regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Degree in a related Technical field is strongly preferred or relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of related leadership experience in a Manufacturing environment is required.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and utility systems.
  • Must have knowledge of good manufacturing practices.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, afternoons, midnights, and weekends.
  • Must be able to work extended hours according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Ability to perform record keeping and mathematics necessary for employment purposes.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, leadership, organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Able to communicate and work effectively with all members of management.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Skills

  • Management of electrical, electronics, controls programming, mechanical systems (process equipment, packaging equipment), stockroom, building and grounds, and utilities systems.
  • Provide maintenance training to include effective utilization of maintenance logs, completion of routine maintenance specific to facility, equipment operations and support.
  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure the implementation of all repairs/modifications resulting from Gap assessments, plant audits, and notifications are executed on time and offer high-quality workmanship.
  • Assists with developing department employee relations by continued communication of all information affecting them and through the conduct of periodical departmental meetings.
  • Working knowledge and skills in tools and components used in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems such as bearings, gears, clutches, belts, and seals.
  • Skills in the area of direct current and alternating current circuits, and industrial electrical systems.
  • Skilled in the theory and application of electronic devices, such as industrial applications including solid-state drives and industrial control systems.
  • Experienced in the troubleshooting and operation of PLC systems.
  • Ability to utilize computer hardware and Windows-based software in the creation and management of user information.
  • Experienced with control and data-collection instrumentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems.
  • Ability to utilize fundamental concepts and principles.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be compassionate but capable of upholding all safety and work rules, policies, and procedures.
