About the Role
Design a wheelchair accessible vehicle from initial concept through to final manufacturing. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues on the manufacturing plant floor.
Responsibilities
- Design new products/vehicles and improve existing products using CAD.
- Transform initial product ideas/designs into working engineering CAD models and drawings.
- Conduct design reviews with production, dealers, and suppliers.
- Drive continual improvements in cost, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction through planning and designing methods.
- Analyze data, review drawings, and create plans to ensure quality and project feasibility.
- Support Lean manufacturing to eliminate waste and reduce variability in designs.
- Develop manufacturing work instructions, procedures, and production flow.
- Perform root cause analysis using Lean Manufacturing and/or statistical methodologies.
- Design and implement manufacturing processes and equipment from pilot build to production line.
- Create 2D drawings and Work Instructions.
Requirements
- BS Degree in Engineering.
- 7 Years minimum experience in companies that manufacture their own product on-site.
- 7 Years minimum experience in CAD.
- 3 years’ experience in SolidWorks.
- Ability to multi-task and function in a factory environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Motivated, self-starter with the ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to network with associates in other departments.
- Willingness to consider change and to adapt.
- Quick reaction to business opportunities.
- Knowledge of Lean practices.
- Capable of tolerance stacks and analysis.
- Knowledgeable in common metal fabrication and machining processes.
- Hands on ability to take designs and create physical prototypes.
- Able to sit for long periods of time.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to effectively operate CAD system.
- Able to communicate effectively in all media.
- Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, and all state and federal regulations.
- Ensure all workplace safety standards and practices are upheld.
