About the Role

The Designer I will be responsible for completing and reviewing site plans, floor plans, and building elevations that meet the requirements of the Real Estate and Construction Departments. This role will assist outside consultants in building development to ensure accurate plan execution.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the review of plans submitted by Architects, Legacy Franchisees, and Developers in a timely fashion.
  • Track plans submitted by key partners and assist in the review of documents within a prescribed timeframe.
  • Provide timely and accurate project status updates on projects within their workload on a weekly basis.
  • Create site plans and interior test fits for a variety of project types.
  • Create preliminary building concepts under the direction of the Director of Design and Architecture and the Vice President of Design and Pre-Development.
  • Collaborate with outside consultants to facilitate changes driven by operations and the brand.
  • Ensure plans are up to date per Brand Standards and the direction of the VP of Design and Pre-Development.
  • Collaborate on project design, including assisting with development expectations for projects to ensure they are completed in accordance with established quality standards and timeframes.
  • Track and log the disbursement, controls, and use of Dutch Bros proprietary designs and intellectual property as it pertains to development.
  • Ensure that each project is using the latest designs that meet the operational needs of the brand.
  • Respond to verbal and written communication from all contacts in a professional and timely fashion.
  • Maintain documentation related to architectural designs and brand standards.
  • Involve in professional industry organizations to stay current on design techniques and implement the latest design trends.
  • Collaborate with outside consultants on the completion of exterior/interior designs, site plan test fits, and operational test fits.
  • Foster relationships with various professionals in the industry including Architects, Vendors, Suppliers, Communities, Government Officials, and Landlords.
  • Coordinate the review of plans developed by outside consultants to identify concerns and ensure brand and trademark compliance, as well as Best Management Practices and Designs.
  • Closely interact with architects and other outside consultants to ensure the plan development process is timely and that Franchisees and Operating Partners stay on their development timeline.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
  • A minimum of 2 years related experience to the understanding and design of QSR, restaurants, retail, or hospitality.
  • Understanding of products and materials used in the construction process to determine durability, cost, ease of use, and maintenance advantages during the life of the building.
  • Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions.
  • Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings.
  • Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels.
  • Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches.
  • Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds.
  • Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls.
  • Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.
  • Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions.
  • Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.
  • Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools.
  • Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.
  • Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in-office communication tools.
  • This position requires driving when necessary.
