About the Role

This is a ground-floor role on a team with serious acquisition ambitions for 2026. You will own the engine that keeps our pipeline moving by building relationships with founders and operators, mapping the market, and developing the systems and processes that make our origination function work at scale. You are not waiting for deals to come to you; you are finding them.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously develop Alloy River's pipeline of acquisition targets across the professional services sector in North America.
  • Build and maintain a disciplined, well-organized approach to prospecting, outreach, and early-stage engagement, including the tools and systems that support it.
  • Track market activity, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities.
  • Build genuine, long-term relationships with founders, business owners, operators, and intermediaries.
  • Conduct initial outreach and early-stage conversations.
  • Represent Alloy River with high trust, credibility, and consistency.
  • Build and maintain the infrastructure that keeps the origination function running, including CRM hygiene, tracking, reporting, and outreach workflows.
  • Bring a systems-thinking mindset to how we find and engage targets and continuously improve the approach.
  • Use AI tools to increase the leverage and efficiency of the origination process.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in corporate development, business development, investment banking, private equity, or a similar pipeline-driven role.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage a high-quality pipeline with discipline and consistency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; personable, credible, and good at building trust.
  • Systems thinker who brings structure and rigor to organization and tracking.
  • Proficient with CRM tools and comfortable building supporting workflows and processes.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by building something from the ground up.
  • Experience in professional services, accounting, or SMB-focused M&A (bonus).
  • Familiarity with AI tools for outreach, research, or pipeline management (bonus).
  • Experience working in an early-stage or high-growth environment (bonus).
  • High agency; identify problems, form views, and act.
  • AI-forward; changed how you work because of AI.
  • Strong opinions; share perspectives in writing, meetings, and Slack.
  • Ownership; feel responsible for outcomes, not just doing your part.
  • Curiosity; go deep without being asked, ask questions, tinker.
  • Optimistic; believe things can improve and people are trying their best.

About the Company

  • Alloy River builds agentic applied AI for finance and accounting.
  • We believe accounting should be intelligent, structured, and operationally decisive.
  • Our mission is to transform finance from a slow, labor-intensive, reporting function into a real-time, strategic engine for profit and control.
  • We re-architected the general ledger from first principles, and layered automation, workflow orchestration, and applied AI directly into its core.
  • Instead of accountants moving data between tools and managing checklists, our system produces outcomes, surfaces exceptions, and compounds leverage over time.
  • This is a ground-up redesign of financial infrastructure for an AI-native world.
  • We raised over $30m to date from Portage Ventures, Electric Capital, Elad Gil, and angels like Tobi Lütke, Balaji Srinivasan, and many more.
  • We’re scaling what we do with the best builders, operators, and craftspeople in the world.

Equal Opportunity

  • We may use AI to help review candidate applications, but the final decision is always made by a human.
