About the Role

This is a foundational role for a senior engineer in Authorium's new San Francisco office, focusing on high-bandwidth engineering and product innovation. You will be a primary driver of the technical integrity of the platform, setting the quality bar and shipping features for the company's next phase of expansion.

Responsibilities

• Own the most complex work across the platform, including versioning systems, approval workflows, and permission models.
• Make architectural decisions that hold up across multiple customer configurations.
• Write ADRs (Architecture Decision Records) and lead the modularization of the core domain.
• Work in-person (Monday–Thursday) with the SF leadership team to whiteboard solutions, debug production bottlenecks, and move from idea to deployment at high velocity.
• Set the standard for engineering quality.
• Lead deep, architectural code reviews and drive improvements to automated quality gates.
• Use AI tools like Cursor and Claude to automate boilerplate and focus on high-level design.
• Define AI-first patterns for leveraging agents in testing and streamlining code reviews.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional full-stack experience.
• Deep engineering fundamentals (system design, database optimization, clean architecture).
• Proven track record of designing and maintaining complex domain objects and data models in production.
• Ability to partner with product managers to turn ambiguous requirements into elegant technical specs.
• Deep understanding of defensive coding practices and authorization models.
• History of high code quality (comprehensive testing, clean PR history).
• Desire to mentor others to meet the quality bar.
