About the Role

Support and lead a variety of structural projects, contributing to the design, analysis, and restoration of buildings across San Francisco. Work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver innovative and compliant structural solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support projects including façade restoration, seismic retrofit, historic preservation, forensic investigation, and interior alterations.
  • Conduct structural analysis and develop repair details for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood buildings.
  • Prepare and coordinate project documentation including drawings, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Participate in all project phases: investigation, budgeting, design, bidding, filing, construction administration, and closeout.
  • Perform site inspections from various elevations including scaffolding and lifts (25–75% fieldwork).
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure project success.
  • Maintain compliance with building codes and navigate regulatory processes.
  • Create and modify drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Write and present clear, technical reports and correspondence.
  • Enforce quality control and troubleshoot project specific challenges.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in structural engineering with seismic experience.
  • State of CA PE license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (structural focus/concentration preferred).
  • Comfortable signing and sealing for SFDBI Concrete Building Screening Program.
  • Knowledge and experience of CA building codes.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and from suspended scaffold rigs.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and structural analysis tools.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with historic preservation.
  • Familiarity with façade restoration and forensic investigation.
  • Willingness to obtain any other required certifications.
  • Candidate must live in a commutable distance to San Francisco.
