About the Role
The Dean of History is responsible for instructional coaching of teachers, academic outcomes for students, and supporting the culture and climate of a high school grade level, including students’ social and emotional learning and development.
Responsibilities
- Provide instructional support and coaching to teachers to ensure each student reaches his or her academic potential.
- Support academic operations related to curriculum, assessments, and the school’s instructional guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning team and the school leadership team to make instructional decisions based on student performance and develop teachers.
- Cultivate a standards-based, data, and results-oriented culture.
- Support curriculum development using the backward design model and advise scope and sequence based on essential content knowledge that addresses local, state and national standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on the current needs of the school.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
- Minimum of 2+ years as a Lead Teacher with a proven record of results.
- Minimum 1+ years preferred coaching teachers in academics, culture & climate.
- Proficiency in managing a team, coaching teachers, and/or designing curriculum, preferably in the charter, private, or public school environment.
- Experience developing academic policies, systems, and school wide analysis and data collection preferred.
- Prior experience working in urban schools and communities preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
- Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds.
