About the Role
Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, this role is responsible for areas related to Fixed Assets, Taxes, and Financial Reporting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare working papers and capitalize various assets monthly, preparing capex reports.
- Prepare working papers and capitalize POS items.
- Record accruals for Capital work in progress and support coding of invoices in iverify.
- Execute monthly depreciation runs in SAP.
- Perform disposals in the system and support the annual impairment process.
- Prepare Schedule 8 for Tax Reporting of Capital Cost Allowance (CCA).
- Participate in monthly capex meetings with Controlling and Operations.
- Prepare and submit Stat Canada Capex Surveys.
- Prepare various provincial and federal government VAT filings (HST / QST / PST).
- Prepare and submit monthly compliances for Income Tax (Corp tax payments, WHT payments).
- Reconcile CARM reports with broker reports and initiate GST / Customs duty payments to CBSA.
- Prepare reports for corrections required for CBSA firm reports regarding declared values / tariff codes.
- Assist in preparing Transfer pricing reports and pillar 2 compliances.
- Prepare monthly Tax submission packages to HQ.
- Prepare blue box reports (EPR) for various provinces annually.
- Prepare tax risk reports (TX2) for HQ annually.
- Update master data for changes in taxes / eco rates.
- Assist in preparing T2 / Dividend packages.
- Assist in preparing working papers for WHT deductions and entries for Non-resident vendors.
- Support audits from CRA, provincial authorities, and tax reviews from third-party providers.
- Assist with Financial Audits (Q3/Q4).
- Perform monthly account reconciliations – E-Binders.
- Prepare Balance Sheet forecast numbers for Business Plan and 1st and 2nd review of Business Plan.
- Code AP invoices for fixed assets / Recycling fees/ HST-GST-PST in I-verify.
- Support annual hot pack testing from HQ.
- Complete Intercompany billing on a quarterly basis.
- Clear bank payments in SAP related to taxes, ecology, and Fixed Assets disposals.
- Participate in quarterly lunch and learns.
- Participate in team events.
Requirements
- 3+ years in an accounting environment covering corporate functions.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to meet strict and demanding deadlines.

- Analytical skills and ability to multitask.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional demeanor.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of SAP or other similar ERP systems.
- Strict confidentiality must be maintained due to the sensitive nature of some aspects of the role.
