About the Role

Code Metal is redefining code translation for mission-critical industries, helping defense partners move more quickly and reliably from algorithm to silicon. We are looking for a VP of Finance who views finance not just as spreadsheets and audits, but as a strategic engine to scale a generational deep-tech company. Responsibilities

Lead the financial transition from an early-stage startup to a scaled enterprise, managing everything from bookings, backlog, and revenue forecasting to complex cap table management.
Build and oversee the entire accounting function (AP/AR, payroll, tax, audit).
Ensure our books are "Big Four" ready while maintaining startup agility.
Manage burn, optimize runway, and partner with the CEO on future fundraising rounds and investor relations.
Leverage your technical background to implement cutting-edge AI tools to automate internal workflows.
Work closely with Engineering and Sales to align product milestones with financial targets and go-to-market strategies.

Requirements

7+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3+ years in a high-growth startup leadership role.
Deep expertise in core financial metrics & KPIs and hardware/edge-related business models.
Strong proficiency in modern finance stacks (e.g., NetSuite, Rippling, Mosaic, etc.).
Excellent communication skills—able to distill complex financial data into actionable insights for the Board and the team.
You’ve been in the trenches and have a proven track record of scaling a company from the $10M mark through significant growth phases.
You likely started in accounting or have a CPA and understand the "why" behind the numbers and can build a robust compliance foundation.
You don't wait for a manual; you write it and thrive in fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environments with a "no task is too small" attitude.
You have a genuine interest in (or experience with) AI and deep tech and can speak the language of our engineers and understand the unit economics of AI infrastructure.
You are a low-ego, high-output collaborator who cares deeply about the mission and the people.
