About the Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in building and scaling the infrastructure behind NetBird’s global networking platform. You’ll ensure our systems are reliable, secure, and performant while enabling engineers to ship quickly and confidently. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, networking, and backend systems. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to design and operate the platform that powers secure, peer-to-peer connectivity for users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code for NetBird's globally distributed management and relay services.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, reproducible, and safe delivery of backend and client components.
  • Own service reliability: implement observability (metrics, logs, tracing), lead incident response, and drive postmortems with actionable improvements.
  • Collaborate with backend and networking engineers to optimize routing, connectivity, and overall system performance.
  • Build internal tooling and automation to improve developer experience and support NetBird's open-source ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in Platform Engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles
  • Strong experience operating production systems on AWS, GCP, or similar
  • Hands-on with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi) and Kubernetes
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Solid networking fundamentals (IP, routing, NAT, DNS)
  • Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and production incident response
  • Strong sense of ownership - you see problems through from detection to resolution to prevention
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and comfortable working independently
  • Experience working with WireGuard or VPN technologies.
  • Familiarity with peer-to-peer networking and NAT traversal techniques (e.g., STUN, TURN, ICE).
  • Experience operating globally distributed systems with low-latency requirements.
  • Experience with gRPC and REST-based services.
  • Background in security best practices for networked systems.
  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • Experience supporting or interacting with developer communities via GitHub or similar platforms.
  • Experience optimizing infrastructure for cost and performance at scale.
