About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Platform Reliability Engineer to establish and scale reliability as a core capability at Grow. This role involves working horizontally across the organization to define, measure, and integrate reliability into the developer experience. You will collaborate with platform and product engineering teams to set standards for observability, SLOs/SLAs, and incident response, and develop self-service tooling to facilitate adoption.
Responsibilities
- Define reliability standards, including frameworks for SLOs/SLAs, error budgets, and operational readiness.
- Improve observability and measurement by identifying gaps in metrics, logging, and tracing.
- Evolve incident response practices, from detection to post-incident learning.
- Enable self-service reliability by partnering with the platform team to build tooling and abstractions.
- Drive adoption of reliability practices across teams through education, influence, and developer-friendly systems.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience operating and improving the reliability of production systems at scale.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes (e.g., EKS), and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
- Deep understanding of reliability principles, including SLOs/SLAs and error budgets.
- Experience with modern observability tooling (e.g., DataDog) and building actionable monitoring systems.
- Ability to identify patterns across teams and services and design scalable solutions.
- Focus on outcomes and improving real reliability.
- Strong communication and influencing skills to drive change without direct authority.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and execute independently.
- Collaborative approach with empathy and a willingness to mentor and learn.
