About the Role
The OEM Engineer interacts with external and internal sources to optimize customer specifications of the current product portfolio and lead projects in support of new opportunities. The role is accountable to provide technical input to enhance design and manufacturing activities within Armstrong and our customers. The OEM Engineer reports to the US Engineering Manager and works directly with each of the members of the US internal and external Sales organization.
Responsibilities
- Work within business systems while following proper set up and document control procedures, facilitating clean order entry.
- Interact with customers as required to interpret applications, specifications, and provide solutions by developing engineering standards for a given product.
- Manage data in the Armstrong ERP system, requiring BOM and routing updates, modifications, and item creation.
- Issue drawing packages for pump packages to the assembly team and provide support during the build process.
- Support inside and outside sales with pricing of pump packages and components.
- Provide technical assistance, information, support, and guidance to customers and sales representatives.
- Provide input for proposals, data packages, and products. May be asked to review orders written by sales representatives for correct pricing and product selections.
- Visit OEM customer factories for scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Visit customer projects for support, troubleshooting, and implementation consultations.
- Attend trade shows and off-site company meetings as required in support of US Sales.
Requirements
- Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in the design and development of customer solutions, preferably in the HVAC industry.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to think clearly and logically, analyze quantitatively, problem solve and define technical requirements.
- Highly analytical and understands how to visualize and present complex data.
- Experience and ability to use SolidWorks 3D, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Previous experience in HVAC and Plumbing pump industry strongly preferred.
- Other pumping industry experience highly desirable.
- Previous experience with mechanical skid package and/or hydronic design.
- Travel required, estimate 10% to 20%.
- Some international travel (Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia) may be required.
- Ability to communicate with individuals by phone, email and face-to-face.
- High Performance Cultural fit with the U.S. team is required.
