About the Role
Join our innovative team that creates memorable experiences for Residents by planning, coordinating, and producing programming that delivers the 5 domains of care: Physical, Cognitive, Social, Emotional, and Spiritual.
Responsibilities
- Planned, led, and assisted with group programs, one-to-one activities, and special events.
- Assessed Residents’ recreation, leisure, therapeutic, and restorative care needs, and developed individualized care plans.
- Supported Residents in participating in programs.
- Completed documentation, care plans, and MDS coding accurately and on time.
- Continued therapy programs as directed by therapists.
- Helped create a welcoming environment through seasonal decorating and maintaining program supplies and equipment.
- Provided guidance and support to volunteers and students.
- Participated in team meetings, care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Worked flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Supported your team as needed.
Requirements
- A post-secondary diploma, degree, or certificate in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or Gerontology.
- Experience in Life Enrichment in Long Term Care (recreation, leisure, therapeutic programs, restorative care, volunteerism) preferred.
- Restorative Care training considered an asset.
- Computer skills (Email, Word, Care Planning, Graphics) with working knowledge of PCC and ActivityPro.
- First Aid (every 3 years) and CPR certification (annually).
- Food Handler’s certification (every 5 years).
- Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) check completed within the past 6 months.
- TB 2 Step updated within the last year.
