About the Role
The Resource Recovery Center of Orange County is seeking a Medical Director to oversee all medical treatment and treatment planning for individuals with substance use disorders in a NY State OASAS certified Part 816 Medically Supervised Inpatient Detoxification program and/or Part 818 Inpatient Rehabilitation Program. The Medical Director will have overall responsibility for medical services, including examination, diagnosis, and treatment, while adhering to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. The role involves ensuring the standard of patient care is maintained based on best practices and aligning with organizational values, vision, and mission.
Responsibilities
- Address medical problems reported by staff or patients.
- Collaborate with psychiatric staff to ensure medication compliance for patients receiving psychiatric care.
- Act as a consultant for medical issues related to agency policy.
- Monitor and/or prescribe medication-assisted therapies.
- Administer/read tuberculosis (TB) tests as needed.
- Oversee the review of adverse lab results.
- Update and abide by all required health department regulations.
- Oversee the development and revision of medical policies, procedures, and training for routine medical care, specialized services, and medical/psychiatric emergencies.
- Advise medical staff on medical-related challenges.
- Assist in developing referral and linkage relationships with other institutions and agencies.
- Attend case conferences and provide feedback to counseling staff.
- Approve and sign all OASAS required documents.
- Oversee the establishment of policies and procedures for public health education and screening for tuberculosis, STDs, hepatitis, and HIV/AIDS prevention and harm reduction.
- Identify medical concerns and create medical policies and procedures for the 816 and 818 substance use disorder programs.
- Supervise Staff Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physicians Assistants.
- Attend staff meetings and training as required.
- Participate in individual and group supervision.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Medical degree
- Working towards Board Certification in Addiction Medicine
- Qualified Health Provider (QHP) with a valid MD license and registration certificate to practice in New York State
- DEA license
- Current basic life support for health providers (BLS) and CPR certification
- Five (5) years of experience working with a substance abuse population
- Prior medical administration experience
- Fully Vaccinated for Covid
