About the Role
The Complex Claims Specialist will analyze liability claim submissions for potential coverage, set adequate case reserves, respond to inquiries from customers and brokers, and drive early resolution of claims arising from commercial lines of insurance, specifically for Architects and Engineers professional liability.
Responsibilities
- Perform all core aspects of in-house claims management.
- Review and analyze claim documentation and legal filings.
- Draft coverage analyses.
- Strategize and maximize early settlement opportunities.
- Monitor litigation and manage local defense counsel.
- Attend mediations and/or settlement conferences.
- Manage and track third-party vendor and service provider spend.
- Assess exposures and adequacy of claim reserves.
- Escalate high exposure and/or volatile claims to line manager.
- Liaise directly on a daily basis with insureds and brokers.
- Maintain timely and accurate file documentation/information in the claims management system.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with a JD from an ABA-accredited law school and bar admission in good standing or 10+ years relevant experience.
- A minimum of 2-3 years professional experience in Architecture & Engineering and/or Professional Liability; coverage experience preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to establish rapport and build relationships with clients.
- Team-oriented, with ability to excel in a collegial environment.
- 10% Travel Required.
- Adjuster licensing is required within 90 days of employment.
