About the Role

Contribute to the continuous improvement of our products and services by working as part of the API team. Design, develop, and maintain our API platform and related services, architecting scalable API solutions using RESTful Services, OAuth, Security, and Java.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of our API platform and related services.
• Architect scalable API solutions to support evolving product features using RESTful Services, OAuth, Security, Java.
• Implement API security protocols to safeguard data transmission.
• Monitor and optimize API performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize API requirements and translate them into actionable technical tasks.
• Apply Agile methodology to ensure timely delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable API solutions.
• Review code, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards and guidelines.
• Gather detailed API requirements.
• Prioritize feature development based on stakeholder input and technical feasibility.
• Document and maintain an API roadmap aligning with the product vision.
• Establish and maintain a well-documented set of coding standards and best practices.
• Conduct regular code reviews and pair programming sessions.
• Document the system architecture and API endpoints thoroughly.
• Ensure code is well-commented and follows clean code principles.
• Use version control for collaborative development.
• Engage in regular team stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Build and maintain unit tests and integration tests.
• Continuously improve the performance, reliability, and security of our API platform.
• Address technical debt and refactor code as necessary.
• Drive improvements in the team's software development processes and practices.
• Integrate continuous integration and deployment pipelines for automated testing.
• Perform root cause analysis on issues and enhance testing protocols.
• Evaluate and propose the adoption of new tools and technologies.
• Write comprehensive unit tests to validate each part of the code.
• Develop integration tests that assess the performance of various API components.
• Implement performance tests to simulate high traffic and assess API performance.
• Set up automated regression tests to run after each deployment.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions.
• Contribute to the overall technical vision and direction of the team.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in API development.
• Share knowledge and insights with the team.

Requirements

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or closely related field.
• 3 years of software development experience with a focus on API design and development.
• 3 years of experience with API documentation and security standards like OAuth and JWT.
• 3 years of experience with building and maintaining unit tests and integration tests.
• 3 years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, and AWS for backend development.
• 3 years of experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• 2 years of experience with RESTful API design principles, best practices, and integration of heterogeneous systems.
