About the Role
The Clinical Lead RN collaborates with clinical staff, physicians, and advanced practitioners to coordinate staff, equipment, and resources for efficient daily operations. They optimize patient care and guide the assigned staff in their daily work processes, overseeing RNs, LPNs, and potentially MAs.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient check-in, document chief complaint, vital signs, and history.
- Capture charges for ancillary services.
- Assist with patient summaries, medication/allergy forms, and treatment consents.
- Administer and document injections, dispense and document medications as directed.
- Label and handle labs, paps, cultures, biopsies, and other specimens.
- Prepare laboratory and imaging requisitions.
- Assist with patient care coordination and follow-up.
- Communicate with patients, hospitals, labs, imaging centers, pharmacies, physician offices, and insurance plans.
- Independently manage patient triage calls and seek provider direction.
- Assist LPNs and MAs with triage disposition and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Measure and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) in conjunction with Practice Leadership.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise and serve as a staff resource.
- Monitor inventory and order medical supplies.
- Follow up on all outstanding orders.
- Manage PTO requests and maintain staff and provider schedules.
- Develop guidelines for prioritizing work activities and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Mentor, orient, train, educate, and supervise clinical staff in collaboration with Nursing Education.
- Work with Practice Manager, Nursing Leader, and HR for hiring, discipline, performance evaluations, and coaching.
- Monitor clinical workflows, address inefficiencies, and create corrective action plans.
- Hold monthly clinical meetings to review KPIs and implement process improvement plans.
- Utilize patient satisfaction data for targeted improvement plans.
- Proactively escalate issues and concerns to management.
- Maintain and model Nuvance Health Foundational Values.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Graduate from approved nursing program
- Three (3) years nursing experience
- Graduation from accredited nursing program
- Able to multitask in fast paced environment
- Valid RN License (CT or NY based on Practice Location)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
