About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled professional to join our Building Performance team, supporting a variety of commissioning, performance testing, energy analysis, and optimization projects. This role is ideal for someone with experience in building systems who enjoys a balance of fieldwork, technical problem-solving, client interaction, and project coordination. As a key member of the team, you will evaluate, test, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and controls systems to ensure buildings perform as intended and meet applicable codes, standards, and sustainability objectives. Working closely with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders, you will conduct site investigations, develop testing procedures, analyze building performance data, and prepare technical reports and recommendations.

Responsibilities

Conduct site visits to review installed equipment, perform equipment tests and troubleshooting, and assess the building systems to ensure they meet design intent, code requirements, and performance standards.
Develop building systems testing procedures, carry testing on site and remotely, and record detailed test results.
Conduct documentation reviews including design drawings and specifications, equipment shop drawings, testing reports, and operation and maintenance documentation.
Process and analyze energy data, development of energy models, and other simulations, to assess building performance and energy conservation measures.
Identification, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues related to the mechanical, electrical, and controls building systems.
Develop documentation and reports for a variety of projects including Energy Audits, Building Commissioning, and Optimization.
Chair meetings with the project stakeholders.
Coordinate activities with the client, contractors, and other consultants.
Perform a combination of onsite and office-based project duties as determined by the needs of the project scope.
Engage in significant client interaction, project management, problem resolution, and mechanical & electrical related engineering services.
Contribute positively by sharing expertise and experience with internal staff.

Requirements

University degree, College/technology diploma in Engineering or related equivalent is required.
Experience in Building Design, Commissioning, Performance Testing, Balancing, and/or Measurement & Verification fields.
Ability to read Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical drawings.
Technical understanding and experience in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical building systems.
Understanding and experience with building controls systems and programming.
Ability to identify and apply applicable codes, standards and sustainable building rating systems.
Eligibility and intent to pursue P.Eng designation; APEGA membership is an asset.
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project).
Must be insurable, bondable and able to qualify for security clearance.
